I've changed the name as someone said to me; "pity you didn't call it Ice and Fire"....

A Deviant friend asked me this recently so I thought I'd drop it in here as many have asked how long some of this stuff takes and how much string is used etc...

Stats: Approx:
Time to Make: 6 Months*
Number of (Miyuki cubic glass, Brass & Glass ) Beads: 3,000
Number of Recycled Ball Bearings: 450**
Length of Flax Cord used: 2,000ft

*... not all the time but most of it.
**used internally to weigh down pieces for stability.

...After the game the king and the pawn, go into the same box...

Incredible work! I think this is about the most original chess set I've seen.

The title seems very appropriate though I guess I've seen "fire and ice" so often that "ice and fire" sounds uncomfortable somehow. I wonder though, what was the original title of this chess set?

Thank you Martin!

Orig title: "Fire and Water Chess Set"

btw: What would you recommend as font designer software? It occurred to me, having so recently discovered your work, and that of others, that it would be kinda fun to create my own font for my knotting website that I'm in the process of designing/building... hope this query isn't an imposition, (pun intended), on your time...

Best wishes, and good luck with your stuff,
Peter.

Feel free to send more questions if you have any. Most type designers design their letters directly in Fontlab Studio (after doing sketches on paper). I'm pretty terrible at sketching letters and I find Fontlab Studio a nightmare to design in. I use Illustrator for the design and then just drag each letter into Fontlab Studio where I do the kerning and programming.

Thank you Martin... will check it out... will probably imitate you as I'm used to my vector package, (in my case: Corel), also... and use fontlab for conversion to ttf, type 1 etc...

Thanks again for your time!
Peter.

btw: goes without saying: if ever... (publicity maybe on my journal or elsewhere...?)

No problem.

As for publicity, you can do that on your own terms. If you like to feature something, go ahead. Don't feel obliged to though.
